The Linux System Administrator bootcamp provides a thorough introduction to UNIX and Linux fundamentals as well as essential administration skills required to competently maintain a Linux system in a networked business environment. Students will also learn to create Bourne and Korn shell scripts and receive solid grounding in the X Window System.
Our unique approach combines on-demand Linux System Admin training with personal facilitation and comprehensive hands-on exercises that recreate real world settings to deliver an unmatched experience that assures genuine competence for the IT workplace. Our support staff provides personal setup assistance, guidance and lab equipment setup for each student. An instructor who has years of Linux administration experience is assigned to each student to assist in completing lab exercises and to help with any questions about the Linux course content. Our classes are designed to be 50% lecture and 50% hands on exercises. Our Bootcamp-style Linux exercises are performed via direct high-speed access to a dedicated lab machine, providing responsive interaction and anywhere/anytime accessibility by the lab facilitator as well as the student.
The Linux System Administrator bootcamp provides students with the knowledge to become a UNIX power user as well as a solid understanding of fundamental system administration. Students will begin by learning crucial commands necessary in any Linux environment, and will learn about file system structure and navigation, process creation and management. Students will also have comprehensive practice writing Korn and Bash shell scripts. Students will be introduced to regular expressions and the power tools that use them including grep, sed, and awk. Linux Administration topics include installing, configuring and maintaining an Enterprise Linux system, as well as planning and implementing backup strategies and configuring and deploying network services.
Upon completion of this program, students will have developed an appropriate knowledge base and hands-on experience to pursue a Linux Essentials certification from the Linux Professional Institute (LPI) after program completion. The student will have learned Unix environment fundamentals as well as shell scripting skills employed by power users. Additionally, the student will learn more advanced skills that are related to Linux system administration, and will gain a solid foundation of knowledge that would be helpful for the Linux Administrator certification from LPI. Regardless of whether or not students wish to pursue certification after program completion, students will have a skillset that enables them to perform support roles related to Unix/Linux, as well as entry-level Unix/Linux system administrator roles.
